First day back!!!

Tegan and Mak creating a masterpiece, Mak is very interested in painting and is developing his skill in this medium. He is beginning to use painting as a way to express himself and communicate.
Summer painting the sun, Summer was hesitant to paint a sun saying she needed her mum to help. Once she observed her friend Charlotte using a stamp brush she said "I can use this paintbrush it's much easier" She began stamping saying "Sun! Sun! Sun!!"
Ayrielle, Summer, Gracie, and Charlotte explore how to make sound using small beads and egg containers. The beads and paper confetti make different sounds, the teacher asked the children to experiment with only confetti or beads. it was fun using spoons to scoop the beads and confetti into the egg. Ayrielle asks to take hers home.
Sam helps building a castle out of blocks, Sam "we can make the road go in different directions" Sam is using her imagination to enhance her play and is communicating her ideas using sophisticated language: different - directions!

Mosaic Table

Our mosaic project began with the children choosing a design to draw onto the table, we looked through a variety of books, fairy books, jungle books and lastly we looked at "Our Special Land' book to which we had learnt a song to. We decided upon an illustration in the Special Land book and set about copying it onto the table.
The look of awe on the children's faces as the image came to be was encouraging.

Next it was time to sort out our mosaic tiles and glass into colours, this was a flurry of excited hands and made light work of the tiles, we were ready to get pasting in record time.

Tegan and Sonita were our two main contributors staying on to finish the flowing creek, we had a very interesting discussion on how creeks flow and if our creek could look like the mosaic creek!

We soon found that we did not have enough blue tiles and decided it was time to smash some more pieces for our creek. The hammer came out and again the boys made short work of this very adult task! They were very proud of themselves once we revealed the smashed tile and had to control their urge to continue smashing tiles as we had met our quota!
With our beautiful blue creek complete we are now looking forward to using our grout to fill in the gaps. The children are drawn to the table now it's makeover has begun and we can see how creating aesthetically pleasing spaces enhances their preschool experience.

Old McDonald Farm

Olivia waiting patiently for the animals to gather in the pen. The excitement was almost too much and we had to sneak in for a quick photo!

Smiles all round! Both the baby goats (kids) and the preschoolers enjoyed the morning bottle feed!

It was time to enter the pen and mingle with the, Lambs, Ducks, Chickens, Alpaca, and baby Goats!

The parents enjoyed the experience almost as much as their children!

Charlotte employed a technique for attracting the animals: she would pat her leg and say in a high pitched voice: "come on, come on, come on"

Ambrose took a liking to the Alpaca and asked for a photo with his new friend. He then looked at the photo and suggested we try and get the Alpaca's face in a photo so we followed her around and took many pic's this one was the best.

Matilda was a little hesitatnt to approach the animals at first and sat with Kel for some time. Her confidence increased though and she began following a few favourites: the lambs and ducks!

Belen was the expert at putting the lambs to sleep and put several into a deep sleep in a not so safe environment! Once she moved they would get troden on by a child or animal and wake up only for Belen to start patting them again!
